In the garment monotype series, I design and sew all the clothing for the monotypes. They are made from fabric and are designed to be printed not worn, meaning that in most cases the clothing is only half a garment. Buttons and zippers and special notion accents are fabricated from paper or fabric so it may be run through an etching press.
For the most part, my abstract works are flights of fantasy. They express freedom of thought through the interpretation of a subject. By ridding myself of any connection to realism I am able to explore the essence of the subject. In the instance of untitled works I work solely with composition, color and texture, seeking to discover the most intriguing balance between these elements.
Inspired by nature, my landscape paintings bridge the gap between reality and emotion. I paint my interpretation of the landscape, seascape, or skyscape as the case maybe. I take liberties with color and composition necessary to achieve to result desired.
